2020 brought unexpected changes to our life and ministry. In January, we were living in Honduras, experiencing God bring fruit to the ministry there that we had long awaited, and excitedly awaiting the birth of our grandson Brooks. On February 1st, we traveled home for what we expected to be a few weeks of family time and sharing with many of you about all that God has been doing in Honduras. Little did we know, a few weeks later the borders would close and flights would be grounded as the pandemic engulfed the whole world. As the weeks turned into months, God made it clear to both Alania and I that He was bringing us into a new season of life on mission. In the beginning, we couldn’t believe what we were hearing from the Lord. Next, we had a really hard time accepting what the Lord was doing. Then, we just couldn’t grasp the time frame. However, as God patiently worked with us, we began to know that we were hearing correctly, accepted the transition, and embraced the new season of life on mission. One morning, I shared what God was doing with a mentor along with my plans for navigating the next year. My mentor’s reply was gracious but direct; “Kris, God’s plan is much better than any plan you could make.”

Over the next couple of days, God used those words and the drawing of the Holy Spirit to bring me to a place of agreement with His plan and His timeframe. As the borders opened and I made plans to travel back to Honduras, God gave me the exact time frame for the trip and began to lead me to prepare to move out of our house in San Pedro Sula and prepare to live in Georgia full time. As God provided the time frame, He also provided the pathway to begin transitioning from living in Honduras full time. I traveled to Honduras for most of the month of October and God provided the resources and opportunities to take care of everything that we needed to. Among those was checking in on our church family there who are still meeting virtually and have been since the last Sunday in March. It was both emotional and encouraging to experience how God is using the church in Honduras to share His love and His word during such a difficult time. I also met with our partners there and went over plans for continuing ministry in Honduras though we won’t be living there full time. As the title of this article points to, God’s work through us will continue in Honduras. We will continue to support Pastor Daniel Tercero and his wife Zulema (pictured on the front page to the right of me in the photo). Your financial and prayer support of Pastor Daniel is still greatly needed as he continues to preach the gospel, make disciples, and minister to the poor there in Honduras. We also believe that we will be continuing to travel to Honduras as a part of and leading short term trips there. Alania will remain connected to and support the Honduran dental professionals and ministries that she works with there. She hopes to continue to empower those professionals and work alongside them during trips to the country. As God has provided for the transition there in Honduras, He has also directed and provided for us here. I am now serving as Associate Pastor at Macedonia Baptist Church where I will be focusing on discipleship and missions. Alania is practicing  as a dental hygienist and will begin as an instructor during the spring semester at Georgia Highlands College in Rome.

As we continue in transition and look forward to starting 2021, we greatly appreciate your prayers, encouragement and support. 100% of your contributions to the ministry will go to the work in Honduras. We thank you for all of your support over the years. As we move forward, we continue with open hands to go where God calls us and do what He calls us to do. Kris & Alania
